Serious, is quite a scary warrior, why you ask? because he takes stuff out of forums, and beyond the internet, Serious angers quite easily, and will even cry about stuff on the internet, many warriors apologize, or dont flame him at all, Serious might track IPs, and track street adresses and etc, while rare, they can make a forum die, because of fear.
Trouble is someone who loves to see a fight, he will send gossip to other members on chat programs, and try to get some huge flame wars to begin, however he dose not want to see a forum end, he just wants to see people dukeing it out for something that is not true, and make others hate eachother, unsupriseingly, the rebel leader is his biggest ally, he will try and get Trouble to work for him, Trouble is very clever, and can cause entire forums to fall apart if he wants, and even websites to fall, he can make allys become enemies and enemies become allys, however he himself dose not fight, if he dose, people might figure out his secret, and he dont want that.
Anyway, please leave questions or comments. |

I don't know if serious even exists, but trouble sounds like picador. _________________ I've got good news:

I once saw a board fall apart because a semi-serious posted a 'RL name', and then a psycho-serious used said name to find homepages, addresses, etc and post it to the forum at large.
The target then tried to get a lawyer involved citing the flame and dirt dug up on her could damage her business (also dragged before the forum)
It was quite entertaining. |

Serious is the most despicable of all flame warriors. I really hate these guys, on a personal level. Not using hyperbole. As they can neither win the war of words nor ideas they try to transition to real life bullying and intimidation. Pure scum.
I wonder what the most common examples of Serious are... perhaps corporations (in their capacity as 'a legal person') and litigious individuals, although unscrupulous law enforcement workers are also likely suspects, and obsessive (usually hypocritical) propeller heads as well.

I know a lot of people threaten real life conflict, but unless they live close by I'd assume they don't have the mean to carry out their threats. Then again he does say they're rare. It should be noted that when losing an arguement, L'enfant provacater, and sometimes weenie or troglodyte(more often weenie) will pose as serious to scare off attackers, but they will never carry out their threats. _________________ I've got good news:

Yeah, I don't think someone qualifies as Serious unless they actually take some action, such as at least tracking down and revealing confidential personal information such as address and/or phone number of the individual they are trying to intimidate.
I have seen these before, even though they are rare. The thing that defines Serious, it seems to me, is that he has real intentions of escalating the conflict to a 'real life' level. (As opposed to, for instance, "Tough Guy", who may threaten physical assault or worse, but has no genuine intention of carrying it out.) I think the real life manifestation is more often legal than anything else, it is not necessarily a physical threat. The point is the same, Serious is mad about what you wrote and he/she tries to fuck your life up FOR REAL.
I think it's an excellent suggestion, Mrdie.

Well...I wouldn't think someone would have to actually be in the same area and /attack/ someone to be Serious. There are things that can actually be worse...
A serious who has some research skills can not only make harassing phonecalls to you at all hours of the night, he can send harrasing mail, find out where you work and call your boss, find out who your friends are and start harassing them...he can post your personal info who knows where, use your adress to sign up for all sorts of things, subscribe your email (Probably not your forum email, but say, your work email) to hardcore Porn sites...in short, messing with this guy can make you never want to /see/ a forum again. And it doesn't matter if he's across the country or even in a different one - there are so many creepy ways to stalk and harass someone these days from afar with little money invested. (Not even LD charges if you have a good cell phone plan). And how do you make stuff like this stop? Change all your numbers, email addresses, and ask your friends and such to do the same?
Really, a pretty scary warrior. |

| Yeah, I knew a guy like this on the Metalmaniacs boards. He posted someone's address and phone number and said "I'm not responsible for what happens to this asshole." |

Actually, any of you guys find another one of these bozos, there's the CyberAngels, they're set up to handle Serious and his ilk, internationally if need be. One of my friends had a problem - it started as intimidation, but he was cyberstalking as well, got into every single forum she belonged to - and they wound up taking him to court. _________________ The Average Woman Would Rather Have Beauty Than Brains Because The Average Man Can See Better Than He Can Think |
