Welcomer is usually a form of Lurker, although on occasion he will also be Eagle Scout or Nanny. He is the guy who is always so effusive when you first show up, welcoming you to the forum, assuring you it's the most fun place on the web, etc., etc. - but then something strange happens. For some reason, although Welcomer is usually one of the oldest members of a forum, he doesn't have much of a post count - aside from welcoming the newbies, he never posts.

I like that Wal-mart does that, it gets the old people out and doing something, and it kinda ameliorates the fact those places are pretty unfriendly otherwise.
