not so sure how original this will seem, but it's based on someone so infuriating i feel they have to be exposed. at any rate, i'd like to fall back on the "it's only my first post" defense, and hopefully you lot will be fair.
Compulsive Basher.
Duh… shouldn’t the name say it all? How old are you, because you sound like a clueless child.
No one really knows what Basher’s problem is. Does she just come onto the forum to blow off steam? Is her perpetual antagonism truly sadistic or is she really just that intolerant of everything and anything? Or is her self esteem that low that it’s her only way to feel vaguely good by trashing others? There isn’t much way of telling most of the time.
Basher almost, but doesn’t quite, fall into a number of other categories. While similar to Xenophobe, she has no specific hatred of Newbies (although they are probably among the most vulnerable to her attacks). She differs from Big Dog due to the fact that she will never attract a Me-Too and by way of her lack of persistence. She will usually make the one attack and vanish for the time being, unless other Flame Warriors are unwise enough to draw her into a protracted battle. So too is she different from Troll – she isn’t after a reaction, just someone to flame in order to feed her self-righteous, fragile sense of superiority.
As mentioned, she has no specific favourite opponent. She is probably most prone to attacking Newbie (due to his tendency to post ignorant and/or stupid questions, but anyone guilty of this crime will most likely feel her wrath if she’s present), and quite often Coffee Klatch for drawing threads away on a tangent and off topic. For some reason (probably mainly the fact that she isn’t a regular), she manages to dodge the retribution of Nanny and Admin time and time again. Compulsive Basher is rarely, if ever, known to contribute anything worthwhile to the forum – doing such a thing would be to shed her cloak of antagonism, reveal that she actually likes something, and leave her open to more effective counterattack.
The best strategy for battling with her? Don’t bother. Other Flame Warriors quickly learn from experience and adopt this strategy, as without any further ammunition, she will simply leave (at least until next time).
Note: Compulsive Basher is usually also Lurker. |

I like it, but since you made me add another warrior to my database right after I finished, I can only assume you're the Antichrist. Kidding, kidding! Don't incinerate me!
Since you're new here, you can be the first person to tell me if my list is useful. It was grim_squeaker's idea. I'm curious about your new warrior; she sounds something like Sinister Oracle. What method does she attack with? _________________

it varies a lot, but it tends to be personal attacks made from judgements of other posters' manner etc. the little intro i put in was quoting pretty much verbatim from what was the last straw for me with her posts. that's not to say they don't get a lot worse though...
having just read up on the "Cynic" suggestion, there's also a lot of common ground there. that kind of behaviour is pretty much all that happens when she's not flaming other members.
i guess with so much common ground with so many existing warriors, you might have asked what the point is. i think the point is that this one combines a lot of the worst traits in to one hell of a nasty hybrid. |

Ah, well I just posted a Stickey. It should help new folks like you avoid an overlap. Oh, and here's a link to Sinister Oracle. _________________

the difference from Sinister Oracle is mainly that there's no pretense of being truthful or any such thing.
and sorry about the compilation, how was i to know? |

If you are curious have a look at Tiny Yapper
If I had to pick a warrior from the roster to describe her, thats what I would peg her as. A Tiny Yapper so bad no forum wants her.
However, your suggestion isn't quite a Tiny Yapper, and I've run into such a warrior once. They seem to exercise this, pretence, of being the "alpha" she-dog, mauling whatever unfortunate, then struting around with their tail in the air, and then vanishing before any rocks find their mark. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

I've know one like this (and isn't it interesting we all seem to see this one as female?) She doesn't last long but makes a mess when she's around. _________________ The Average Woman Would Rather Have Beauty Than Brains Because The Average Man Can See Better Than He Can Think |

Actually the one I saw, was supposed to be male. However, the manner suggested that of a she-dog on a ego bolstering mission. (and here, I am actually referringt to a peculiarity of some dosgs.) _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

One thing I believe separates Basher from Tiny Yapper is that while both are loud and boisterous and usualy in foul moods, Yapper has at least a semblance of ideas and topics he likes and will refer to positively
Basher likes absolutely nothing, except telling you how much they don't like somthing, and the target always shifts to whatever is popular and positive
Is it NFL season? Basher will spend weeks yelling about how much football sucks
Is it an election year? Basher will spend days yelling about how much politics, political parties, and all the rest suck
Did someone just win the powerball lotto? Yep, Basher thinks the winner sucks
Someone just survive a horrific train crash? Guess what? Trains suck, the guy who lived sucks, and so does anyone who ever rode on one
Basher doesn't have a lot of substance to thier arguments either about exactly WHY somthing has earned thier hatred, it's all subjective terms, "Losers" "Jerks" "Pigs" "Assholes" , if pressed to describe further by another warrior, Basher only ads the person who asked to the list of things that suck |

Based on the first post, I still don't see how this is different from Jerk. Based on the last post, I don't see how this is different from Acne.

Jerk is just a snide asshole, and Acne is a whiner. This is more like a psychotic who attacks anything that moves. _________________

this is cool, i've hardly had to clarify any of this, and what's more, most of the things you others have added pretty much describes her perfectly!
once again, i'll just mention the most important thing is that she's similar to a lot of existing variants, but not identical. i'd mentioned the hybrid concept, but the Jerk/Acne suggestion hadn't occurred to me yet. thanks. |

The Edge is a notable contributer. I mean very notable.
Hmm though they might look like a T.R, one marked characteristic is they hide out when the rocks start coming in their direction. Maybe I'm reading more into the suggestion, but my comments of what I believe the warrior to be, could never be said to be True of a Tireless Rebutter. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

Yeah, that's why I'm puzzled s/he doesn't have an account. I'd think someone as active as the Edge would benefit from an account. You know, able to edit your work, get email notifications, etc. _________________

I'm working on it, so there can be a version with just suggestions with names and dates. There are a "million" suggestions, some just a couple of words long, countless are about the same. sigh I'll get there.
note there was a version of Wannabe in there as well, how about that. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

Various copies happen to be in my computer. I'm workin on it. The Guestbook has gone from about 70 html pages to a 2.5 M doc file, and I'm working it down to below 1 M I hope. As I have it now it is um er well, cough.
I'm pulling all email and homepage stuff out so it can be just Name and suggestion label and blurp and atach the label they suggested.
Some common warriors are Cut and paste, linker, a one time only poster, spammer, attention whore, (adjective) Fanboy, emotions and abbrev. (including LOLers etc)
I also pulled any comments that just agreed or didn't add to other suggestions, and any pot shot suggestions.
I'm separating out the purely political ones to a different doc file.
Mike included most of them at the Ideas page.
When I'm done, I'll send it off to Mike.
Note: as I'm shortening many of the descriptions, I have to be very careful to catch the same warrior being described, even though some descriptions are written by people that assume they would be totally understood. A couple of descriptions are short but good, so I'll flesh them out. Again I have to be careful.
A few are easy, and can say, see roster. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |
