Is it a "tactic," then, to make an honest observation and draw an obvious conclusion from someone's fundamental immaturity? You could have differentiatiated, but you didn't. Why not point out that an opponent is undoubtedly a waste of time to address because of the glaring immaturity? I'd say arguing with a brat is time lost. Do you like arguing with wussy babies? I know a lot of people here like to pick fights with nobodies and absolute strangers, but why waste time with someone that doesn't even have a fully developed perspective about his/herself?

You twist my words. What I said has nothing to do with someones fundamental immaturity. Someone could be of any age and still be quite mature [edit: or immature for that matter] . I am speaking of imbeciles calling people children soley because they are arguing with them. If you point out that someone is acting in an immature manner because they are than I see no problem with that. As was mentioned in the following replies to my initial post these are useless tactics not because they are not in any case valid. But because they have been so overused and misused so as to have lost all impact.

You presented them as separate tactics. My initial statement about your post was actually that calling someone immature was a fair enough statement to use, considering that flamers are exactly that. All the other tactics you outlined are just fluff, and branch off from the fact that flamers are immature.

Ok let me see if I can straighten this out. Your saying if some retard comes on here flaming in an immature manner, there is nothing wrong with calling him immature.
I agree. There is nothing wrong with calling him immature.
Yes each tactic I presented was seperate from each other. But I consider each one to be immature, and stupid, and worthless. You think "again he doesn't get why im disagreeing." But please note one thing. Saying that a moron who is acting immature is in fact acting immature is NOT the same thing as calling some flamer you met a stupid child, or an acne ridden teenager (i know i stated this previously im restating it for emphasis). So what I don't get is how my first post is in any way whatsoever related to calling someone immature. IT never mentions the word. It only implies fault in calling someone a child, or saying their age (NOT maturity) alone is enough to damn them as a flamer.
I would again like to restate my intent with this post. These are tactics (including the first one) I feel are misused, and used way too often by flamers to inneffectively attack others.
So what is it in that first tactic that you disagree with? (I am not attempting to be condecening, only to assertain what the heck is in error in my original post).
Or to be less wordy let me sum it up in this question: Do you feel that when engaging an opponent in argument, it is ok (under no specific circumstances) to call them a stupid child, or let us say "too young to know what they are talking about"?

What is wrong with it is that it is weak and ineffective. Again the tactics I mention aren't hated because of their justified use, but because of their incorrect use.
The youth one in question (im glad we got immature tossed out the window), annoys me most because it is used constantly without reason. You disagree with an opponent, they state your entire forum is made up of "angsty pimply teeny-boppers".
Obviously if it were only used when justified I would have no issue (as I don't with numerous tactics not overdone). My post however is describing tactics which are in all cases abused tremendously and have therefore lost all impact.
It isn't if calling someone a child is wrong (in a moral or factually incorrect sense), it is about if calling them a child anymore will even get a flinch.
