We need more active mods. The spammer is increasing its output and just dropped us 8 messages about a Sao Paulo boat show, plus two others I didn't bother to remember. If we don't act soon, we'll be defeated.

We need to mod someone who's on every day... except I'm basically the only person who fits that criteria. Come on, we need someone to step up!

We need less moderation, not more. For you being the capitalist dogs, you sure love styfeling the entrepenur spirit. Oh wait... because capitalism was never about giving people work or a means to make wealth. It was about using the land and the influence you have to control others. How silly of me.

Less moderation equals less bannings and less corruption. Look at giant in the playground, it's got like... twenty God-damn mods. (When I say "mods", I mean moderators, admins, janitors, etc) That place it a shit hole. I'd rather walk around naked outside the poorer parts of Mexico. They are disgustingly tyrannical. "No politics", "no religion", but because they themselves are fags, big donkey dick signatures promoting the lgbt is allowed. There's also an offical fag topic. Fags are politics!!!

But I expect fags to be part of criminal organizations like the lgbt. The lgbt is basically the mafia of molesting children and cheating on spouses but getting custody. (So they can molest them some moar')

Whilest the travesties commited by these sick and demented bastards is sad, it's sadder that we're sacrificing our freedom for nothing! Supressing free speech, free thought, and free information is not hurting the fags, if anything it's helping them. They find ways around it, to continue to promote their creep agenda, meanwhile the rest of us are just supposed to keep our head downs, and watch our children get raped and endure their dictatorial bullshit. It's time to stop appalogzing, drag these motherfuckers across the pavement, and hang them by a fucking rope! Not just for their sexual deviances, not just for their delliberate abuse of fellow human beings for no other reason then they can, but for the sheer fact their actions create a metamind within the human race that allows nothing of value to blossom! This is why giant in the playground sucks, this is why their D&D section for games suck. Evil people don't know how to have fun! You're not allowed to think, feel, talk, what the fuck can you possibly "game" with?! How can you possibly be okay with living your life wondering if the next word you say will be your last simply because someone else has an unwarranted sense of authority?

How does simply reducing moderation help this? Well, whilest it cannot fully get rid of the corruption, it can certainly compell them to leave be. Lets say there was only... two moderators. This would mean they'd have to do alot more work, do alot more "patrolling", (they even check private messages, or else they wouldn't possibly know about my plans to bring them down) the very fact they exhaust their forces will in and of itself protect the soverignty of more forum members, but combine that with having to create their ironfist dictatorship enviorment is even harder because arguments grow in size very quickly. Too quickly for them to keepup with, too quickly to convince the masses their shit is just, and too quickly to get people to submit. People will see them for the pricks that they are. Picking favorites, and making obscure rules that they will bend and break at will. The end result will be less bans, because they simply can't be everywhere at once, and less people caring enough to follow their rules, demoralizing the mods and forcing them to just accept the fact there's people they are not going to like at "their" forum. Thats what you get for making a forum. I wouldn't hold a block party if I didn't expect to see a few fat chicks.

But they think they're entitled. That's the way mods think. But noone rules if noone listens...

I am so irate with the state of the internet, that I'm willing to take my chances with net neutrality. I plan to have a talk with my senators and my governor, and we're going to try to push for net neutrality to protect forum members right to post whatever! The constitution protects us, both from self incrimination and the freedom of speech. So legally, we have a right to do whatever we want online. It's the living embodiment of victimless crime because we cannot physically make any transactions, or kill people online. All we can do is yell eachother. And what the hell is wrong with that? What gives mods the right to come between our disputes?

I would rather centralize the internet and just take their sites away from them. It's like a child, if they don't want to share, then nobody gets to play.

Karl Marx himself said this was how it had to go down. That we would have to at some point, work with the corporations, though they care not of the livelyhood of futures of their underlings, that they only think about their immideate greed, and will love to feel incharge of every facet of the internet. When infact, it is the people who will own the internet. We are giving them the illussion of ownership, but we will use our constitution and our government to keep them inline. Not to stop them from doing, but to stop them from stopping. Negative rights are paramount. Eventually the corporate logos and bullshit will be a thing of the past. As more and more all these rogue companies that put spyware in our computer and shit come out that they were working with Verizon and Microsoft all along. They'll be descredited, humiliated, and face criminal charges.

Eventually the entire internet will be collectivized, as will buisness, as will the means of production. The revolution is on comrades, will you be on the rightside of history???

Sorry, I'm just not around a net connection every day now. Will try and get online more often, but getting away is a bit hard. (I'm often too sick to even drive 30 miles to get access. )

We need moderation. Most of the time, mods are not very good, but when they are. it's beautiful. Believe me, I've seen it happen. I'd clean out the spammers (not counting Jim Profit) if I could.

It's unfortunate our admin (Irritus) seems to have vanished for good, as he's the only one who can grant modships.

It just sucks a bit because I'm not visiting twice a day as I have done for a couple of months while irritus has found something better to do.

Hoefully I will work something out to gain internet in areas which doesn't have the greatest wireless reception.

We're pretty much fucked though if our only Admin pretty much has chosen to move on.....as no new mods can be made and what not.

Don't worry, Fence, at least you got rid of the spammers. Shame that one mod cannot bestow mod powers on another person.

Yes it's a shame.

Pity the software doesn't yet have a {spam} button so that any member can move spam away to an unseen forum for mods to clean up at a later date.

I was pretty surprised when I popped on to find that apparently someone's offering free blowjobs to anyone whose spambot posts here. I mean that's pretty much the only reason I can think of for the volume.

Now that's just crazy talk. I just fell out of the habit of cleaning up because there wasn't much else to see here. Then I just forgot to keep popping in entirely. Proper spambot clean-up is incredibly time-consuming.

We've got 2 mods (one inactive), and 3 inactive admins (myself included, though I am active-ish again). I don't really think we need more. Our problem is a matter of software, not unruly members.

Economic structures aren't governments, so this is something of a non sequitur.

Agreed.

Agreed; I once got a warning for holding an opposing point of view. In the middle of a thread where someone on the other side openly insulted my side, I pointed out that he'd missed the point of the thread because a couple of his summations of our side were off-base (the polite way of saying "strawman arguments") and explained why. The asshat was arguing on the same side as the mod, so his blatant rule-breaking went unaddressed while my comment was twisted into a violation of the rule against just telling someone they don't know what they are talking about.

Hm. Some points:
  • Net Neutrality is the rule that all ISPs can't choose to limit a user's connectivity based on the destination they are trying to reach. It has as little to do with free speech as laws regarding fishing nets.
  • The constitution prevents someone from forcing you to incriminate yourself; it does not protect you from self-incrimination. Otherwise there'd be no such thing as a confession.
  • Free speech is already limited, by law, including harassment which is quite possible online.
  • Mods don't have the right to interfere, they have the authority. Rights are something citizens have. To answer your question, though, mods have the authority to intervene because you are using a service to post online, and a service provider isn't a slave to its customers and can choose not to serve them. If you were paying to post somewhere you'd have legal recourse for having the service taken away from you.

Jim Profit wrote:

Now I just think you're trolling. You strike me as being someone who's spent enough time on the internet to have at least accidentally learned how it works by now.

Do you know what the funny thing about this comment is? You think that by putting the internet up to popular control means it will be more free. You represent a severe minority of thinkers, as far as the internet goes. People like you and I think that people, for the most part, should just fight and get it out of their system online. You may be a bit more extreme about where the line is than I am, but I'd still say we're in the same league.

Most people will chop their own heads off with social control. In the name of freedom, you're asking them to seize control of your mechanism of free speech and make it reflect the majority will. If this was ever successful you'd literally have nowhere you could post.
