I saw "Crusader" on the Idea list, but not the suggested warriors list; I'm not sure how it was defined by whoever suggested it. My thought on the warrior was:

Like Issues, Crusader has an axe to grind, but she's not satisfied with simply interrupting conversations in her own forum. Instead, she seeks out forums she detests, only to denounce their subject matter and all participants. Unlike Troll, she doesn't just want to cause problems; no, Crusader is sincere, and must convert the faithless wretches to her point of view, so that they see the error of their ways and turn their community over to more positive pursuits, which she will then define. She drives Netiquette Nazi to distraction, and, depending on the severity of the attack, may draw the Royals into battle to defend their kingdom. Few other forum members will have any interest in joining her battle, though some may find her amusing and keep prodding her until she screams.

---------

I didn't see this one, and I apologize if my eyes skipped over it.

TMI has no concept of his or her own privacy. Whatever the subject, she will give you too much information. Ask about life as a woman, she'll tell you about a leaky Kotex. Mention an illness for any reason, and she'll give a graphic rundown on the symptoms. Bring up sex, she'll tell you exactly where the wet spot on her sheet is at the moment, and what it smells like. She will not understand why anyone could possibly object to this, as it all happens in real life.

Wow, got to give you kudos for reading through the ideas list. Wink

I like the idea of Crusader a lot. Well defined, and something that clearly exists in the wild. I don't think I have seen it suggested before, either.

What does TMI stand for? Anyway, I think this is ok, but like the recently suggested Firestarter, it is difficult to tell this warrior from others masquerading as TMI. I'm not sure, but I think TMI also may be just a vulgar form of Ego. I'm thinking the problem is:

WARNING: Troller, Imposter, Compost, Enfant Provocateur, Evil Clown, Jerk, Perv, Strumpet, Ego, and Toxic Granny will often take on the roll of TMI.

I like both of these suggestions. I've seen (and in my noob days, acted like) both of those at different times Smile

I've actually known a TMI in real life. Nice guy otherwise, but whenever our conversation turned to the subject of women, he'd start going into the most excruciating, graphic detail about his sexual exploits with his latest girlfriend. He was a big fat guy too, so those mental images weren't exactly pleasant under the best of circumstances. Definitely an annoying trait.

Both really excellent Ideas. God help me, my sister is a TMI, so I know the type well.

I like TMI, but I don't see how Crusader is anything more than a really rude Issues. As per the description:
Issues wrote:
Issues has an issue and she won't rest until it becomes your issue, too. Even when she's not talking about her issue it's clear she would rather be talking about her issue. Something of a secular evangelist, he religion, her raison d'etre, her abiding passion is....well, her issue. Not exclusive to any ideological orientation, her issue could be the environment, abortion rights, raw foods, breast feeding, whatever. Her obsession, however, provides the key to defeating her in battle; she can't tolerate indifference, so if her thrusts are simply ignored she will rage, accuse, condemn, plead and finally, go away.

It doesn't say anywhere in there that Issues is civil or just sticks to her own forum. In my opinion, you've described a very adamant Issues with Crusader.

You're right about Crusader, I just never thought of Issues like that before.

As for TMI, I just don't think the behavior is defining enough to justify a new warrior.

I think there's a difference (don't worry, won't get wanky, just explaining myself).

Issues seems by the definition to be someone who twists existing conversations to meet her issue. Eg, if she's on a theoretical forum discussing Willow and Oz from Buffy, and there's a thread about whether or not Oz is a good musician, Issues will start to answer it, maybe by pointing out that people are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt... which just goes to show how men are given all kinds of leeway, while a woman who said she didn't practice would be assumed to be bad, and doesn't that really show how horrible and patriarchal the western world is...?

Crusader, on the other hand, would grab the thread because it's at the top of the list and say, "How dare you have a whole forum devoted to this pairing? Willow is a lesbian, and you really should be supportive of showing alternative lifestyles instead of wishing for a return to patriarchal culture...!" I think it's more closely related to Troll than Issues.

Basically, the incident I'm thinking of (though I can't dig up the links, ugh) was on an LJ devoted to making fun of bad HP fic--a sporked author (known as "Not Bob Youfreaks," because obscure reasons caused her to say, "My name is not Bob, you freaks!") came in and complained first in her own thread then in subsequent ones about how people shouldn't do this, and how it was wrong and hurtful and everyone involved was (I kid you not) an evil lesbian. (If you look at pottersues, you'll see that her "comment on this post" feature reflects this.) I thought her sufficiently different from a standard Troll (just out to cause problems) in her ambition to shut down the site and get members (well, pottersues' friends; it's an individual journal that works like a forum) to rethink their "mean" personalities. Kind of a weird cross among Innocence Abused, Troll, and Issues, maybe.[/url]

No, Issues always crams her issue into any discussion. Twisting existing conversations is simply one method of doing so.

I second the idea of TMI. When you send a link to someone and he tells you he just jacked off to it, it makes baby Jesus shit his pants in disgust.

That's subtle? Boy, I'm on the wrong boards. I thought of that as horribly intrusive and strident in a particular way (a different way than I was thinking of)! Come to think of it, maybe that means I'm on the right boards.

As in the fact that she's Issues wouldn't be plainly obvious from that one incident. For Issues that is subtle; in the description you gave, she eased into a feminism derailing. The other bluntly committed a lesbianism derailing.

And I really don't need how you fellatiated your boyfriend in the middle of a thread on books. Which has happened. Hmm, isn't this Derailer?

I don't want to be a guttermind,it's just I'm surrounded by them. I can't imagine why, she said innocently. (bats eyes).

Funny how the lead wolf finds herself surrounded by the pack when she stops short.

Your title didn't get to be Forum Flirt at random.

I definitely like TMI. I used to know a TON of 'em in RL and on the internet. They'd either make me sick or freak me out. Sometimes both. Confused
