Most normal sites, when a troll comes, will simply laugh and tear him apart.

Sometimes, however, some yutz will pick up on something in the troll-killer's rebulttal and pursue an inane side argument with said troll-killer (yes, Fence Sitter, I'm looking at you!). All attention is immediately diverted from the troll as the new issue takes center stage. The troll sits and laughs as the forumers argue over stupid things instead of working together against him.

By "arrived" I mean arrived in the modern world. Of course the Greeks and Romans were heavily gay cultures. Maybe I should have said re-arrived?

There is a lot of culture and strange odd practices through the ages that existed, it just was never talked about widely or put to paper.

Despite that getting to the topic in general, anytime someone launches an attach that is so terribly flawed, if a quick word doesn't quickly remedy the "problem" then there is a good possibility the thread will slowly derail.

Don't you get it Fence? You _NEVER_ recant in front of a troll. You just don't.

In such situations, a person maneuvers to get on top of the problem. Staying rigid isn't a good strategy.

In the case of any "issue" that has reared it head - it prompts an action to quickly research what "others" have been caught up on, and make a decision what to do.

It such cases where google indicates that it is probable that such a position on your part is untenable, either employ every ounce of Artful Dodger or simply stick your hand up and acknowledge you just weren't aware of the wider facts of the matter - unless such a fact is central to the defense or antagonism, everything should simply keep on rolling almost as if it never happened.

If it was central to your position you've taken on the field, then quite a lot of back peddling and dodging is required to extract yourself without too much damage to your credibility.

Not understanding why people are gay certainly wasn't central to the discussion you were having with Jim.

Chuck, just face it, you put your foot in your mouth and that's that. Trying to deflect things by going "OMG, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH JIM AND MOLLIE ARE TROLLS" isn't gonna work.
