I'll let you draw your own conclusions what types are here, but half way through the thread the insults start to fly thick and fast, to the frustration of the OP.

Further edit: Well it looks like some of Bill Sloman's posts may have been deleted. Apparently some are a bit sensitive to having the imperial/metric confusion rubbed over them. I quickly read they got into one satellite glitch and were blaming gallons liters, and weight measurements. The most notable satellite glitch that comes to mind was when someone didn't convert from feet to meters correctly, which is one probe smacked the landing surface harder than many of the individual components would survive.
Mils is something, despite "being right" many avoid (Thou has been adopted in other engineering fields) due to the easiness for some to write mills, which is metric. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence

What the fuck "mils" means? I assume it's "milimeters" but I'm having trouble being sure.
If mils is milimeter, what other unit of measurment is to be used? Microns? |

Yeah, that's (the use of mils) a problem for someone who uses both metric and imperial and mils looks just like mills on paper, and if you're not real familiar with that particular area of mechanics, engineering, machinery, process of calibrating equipment, etc.
If I quickly misread 4O mils for a sparkplug gap, I'd know enough to know it's physically impossible to be mills so I'd have another look, but I I was making up a tool to calibrate a piece of equipment, if I misread it, I may actually reach the testing phase to realise days were wasted.
Pretty much that why those who use both metric and imperial, use thou which means EXACTLY the same as mils. One day Mils though the approved measuring system used in Engineering will go the way of the dinosaur. Too many F ups for those who use both systems, it's just stupid to keep using it. Most technical manuals that address both metric and Imperial, use thou
"cable connection" - It was not Bill who wrote that. As the thread seems to be more complete in other places it was cross posted, I found a clearer version.

You're an idiot. One of these days, you are going to stick your neck
so far out, and your foot so far up your pathetic ass, that google will
finally figure out that you need to be removed, and perhaps even hit you
with some nice, on-the-books NYPD charges.
So, you had better watch your ass, troll. |
Bill I think just enjoys stirring up the metric / imperial debate. I use both, but view mils with disdain, thou is to the point. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |
