Has it really been that long, omg I checked and September ... but apart from spambots the forum was very quiet. There were a few suggestions and sightings, and the stagnant air was momentarily disturbed when Mly posted one of their cut and post "troll" efforts. Mly finally left, they'd ended up in hospital, but "not the one that was hurt," and spent the next couple of days after that doing their final farewells on a couple of forums in order to leave for good. Here at FW, Mly simply stated they had to go for reasons too incredulous to believe. We know Mly is in the shadows watching ... in a coma ... on the lamb.
That's pretty much it apart from my boring activities here - Pretty much the spambots got worse after September, and in October I knew I had to do something different ... anything that might work. I'd plain got sick of retrieving details and writing to various entities that should or could bring the spam bot to a crunching end but for the most part it was pretty pointless ... though I lost yet another email, so I'm sure the #$#%#$^& holes write to my "temporary" email provider to complain.
Anyhow irritus has created a usergroup and hopefully this will pan out well. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

Doesn't sound like much.
How are YOU doing?
I thought this guy on FF was you so I asked him...and no he wasn't. I have missed you.

I'm doing as well can be expected. I've been in the grips (though not as bad as the last episode) of this chronic illness once again for the last month or so - I still haven't quite gotten over it yet.
It's pretty warm here in my part of Oz which is usually ok ... to a point.
I'm missed? Aw shucks. Likewise you are missed, though I did't have the time to think about lurking around Ff.
Anyhow I'm hoping it hasn't been too cold for you there. This year based on reports, it's been a shockingly cold winter in the Northern hemisphere. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

Interesting, cos it has been unseasonably warm! We had our one and only first snow the other day and I supoose that will be it for winter.
I hope you get to feeling better! |

I'm surprised, a warmer year? Actually I shouldn't be, that's the thing about news and how it's reported, generalisations happen all too often.
Every year we've (as per flood reports) how it's the worst it's ... blah blah blah.
Yes that was in part "anything." For what ever reason AoW is a spam haven.
I figured at a last ditch, the spam could flow over at the bottom, and people visiting the site wouldn't see most of the spam. I'd spend a bit of time searching for "not bot" posts and sticky legit posts taking them back to the front. At some stage maybe weekly or monthly I'd then use mass delete cause by that stage a legit member would have whinged that their topic wasn't up in front.
However it pretty much went from some absurd number of posts each day, bots spamming other bots droppings to a mere handful. Who would have thought.
Works for me, but excited if we can use forum permissions to hand these spam bots their final card. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |
