Actually Gourdz, I thought you set some bait.
Well short lived, hit and run Trollers, drop obvious baits, though it may seem motivated by needing some sort of "attention", much of it is so they can sit back and "enjoy" someone, (not bright enough to see the bait for what it really is), froth at the mouth. In other words - to have effect.
But many Trollers, hang around the forum, and get a feel to see where the lagest catch might be hiding out. What the best catch depends on why they came to that forum in the first place. Hostility between forums or mailing lists can see one or more members join with the sole purpose upsetting the rival group. Having an ongoing slanging match requires both sides that are equal in strength.
Troller may also be after, a certin "fish" that changed names and moved to a different pool. They set the "right" sort of bait, and see how each warrior bites, waiting for the "right" type of response.
Side note. I have only ever been a real Troll years (10?) back, and that was to flush out a serial pest (on request of an Admin).
