Vulture lies in wait for his victim to post. He is usually waiting for one specific victim, so he can remorselessly hound him off the board, but he can also be waiting for someone to post on a given subject, as he sometimes decides that the subject is his and nobody's going to take it from him. On occasion, Vulture can be a Newbie, so excited about the board and/or subject that he is entralled at the idea of posting.
Vulture's premier enemy is Tireless Rebutter. _________________ The Average Woman Would Rather Have Beauty Than Brains Because The Average Man Can See Better Than He Can Think |

I've definitely seen this type of person. I'm not sure Vulture is the most appropriate name, since vultures are scavengers, not territorial birds of prey. What about using Tiger? Their mode of hunting involves blending in with the background, then stalking or ambushing their prey. They're also highly territorial. _________________

| Tigers are ferocious predators, and very powerful. Somehow i dont see a newbie quite managing to live up to that name. A Rottweiler Puppy could do it though. |

Yes, but tigers' camo stands out when they travel outside their natural environment. Doing that is a good way to get shot. Maybe the description should be updated slightly for the new animal. _________________

Another similar animal is a Trapdoor Spider. It's as captious as a tiger, but lacks most of its power.
That having been said, this presona sounds like a type of troll. |

Trapdoor Spider seems to fit, except without the stalking part. This is not a troll, though, as they are territorial about one topic, not fishing for reactions. _________________

Like a territorial lurker?
I'm seeing if I understand...
Guy X has been bass fishing for twenty years, and uses worm x almost exclusively. He finds the Super Nifty Bass Fishing Forum, and reads posts for awhile, and starts to really dislike Guy Y who does everything differently and has only been fishing for /15/ years. Guy x thinks he's being something of an underserved know it all.
So he waits, and looks around, and finally! Guy Y posts about Guy X's most special, favorite type of worm, and misspells the manufacturer and also doesn't seem to like it as much! Guy X pounces and rips Guy Y a new one...because obviously he was talking out of his ass and getting way too big for his britches.
This is of course one example, and there could be many manifestations, but would this fall under the def? |

This is more like a person with an obsession with a topic or an enemy. Most of the time they seem normal, probably not bother anyone too much. Should anyone post on their topic, they'll come out of the background and ferociously attack. They might also single out someone, stalk them quietly, then attack (for whatever reason).
In other words, someone normal most of the time, but with a fixation on someone or something that just triggers their crazy side. At least that is how I interpretted it. _________________

| Sounds like it could be a version of Hater, the ferocity and fixation on a topic certainly fit. |
