There are similarities with Ethnix but the Group Identity only manifests when losing and usually after starting to get personally offensive. So if you rebut some wild accusation too enthusiastically, it is no longer personal but simply because you hate "Americans", "Women", "Men", "Christians" - whichever group it has suddenly morphed into.
Very close is to find disagreement with what you thought was one loony personal view has become disagreement with a 'group view' that you have never heard from any other member of the claimed group. Expect at some time to be taken to task both for your prejudice against the group and the prejudice (and stupidity) of treating all people of that kind as a homogeneous group - which of course had never occurred to you. |

Interesting.
I have a feeling that there is a common term or expression for this. (Ahem, late, tired, and a really dodgey memory recall function.)
Hiding behind a Mother's skirt, isn't quite the expression, but something about hiding behind associations.
Ehh! can't think, so I'll leave it at that. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

| I can't remember the term either but it's probably one of the most common carried across from RL. There, it can often backfire - as somebody said of certain East European beggars, there are peoples who make themselves so obnoxious that it takes a supreme effort not to persecute them on sight. |
