I'm tired of all the misconceptions about this site, flaming, and so on. An issue made worse by some of our members being too diplomatic (in the days before we realized most of the visitors from brawl-hall were devoid of talent and reason). So, now that I can speak freely without worrying I'll offend someone of future value to this forum, let's get into it.

There are no sites mostly oriented around people flaming each other for fun. Flames are personal attacks that come up during civil online debate. Since flames are spontaneous, you can't specialize in having them with one another all of the time. The very name comes from the concept of "heated" arguments. Any watered down version of this is can't be called a real flame any more than an athlete from American Gladiators could be equated to a real gladiator from Ancient Rome. Trolls can claim whatever they want about their skills, but that doesn't make trolling something other than trolling.

As for Flame Warriors, it's kind of hard to explain the site directly because doing so in the past was too much for outsiders to grasp. As such, I will use an analogy. Imagine that flames are cuts of beef, and trolling is a form of filler. If your head hurts already, you're probably not going to be able to follow this. It's not a challenging analogy.

So-called "flame sites" are little more than fast-food joints, serving low-grade beef mixed with filler but (for some insane reason) calling it steak. Some sell processed vegetable matter with beef flavoring, and others are at the level of hot dog carts. Amazingly, the proprieters involved insist that while they have plenty of ribeye and filet mignon in the back, you're getting served crap because they feel no need to cook you the finer meat. The members are mostly unskilled, angry, and poorly-compensated people who will often move from one such "restaurant" to another until they find a niche.

Flame Warriors, on the other hand, is like a training school for butchers, with a few USDA classes on quality. We make no claims about being a great restaurant, we just carve up the beef. Meat is categorized, labeled, priced, and presented. Every once in a while we may throw meat at one another, but such fights are unprofessional and promote a poor learning environment. As such, they are spontaneous rather than forced. Though some of us might make a mean steak, most preparation and cooking is done on one's personal time. Our goal is carving up the beef, not selling cooked meals.

Along that same vein, Flame-Truth would be something like an beef industry report. For the most part staffed by people who consume and prepare beef of varying quality.

I hope this has helped clear up any confusion. Flame Warriors is a flame processing center, where flaming may occur as a matter of consequence. Flame Warriors is not a flame site because there is no such thing.

Smacking down crumb-snatching budding flamers carries no appeal for me. There is precious little in the way of sport to be had, and it is a disservice to the community as a whole. The process of natural selection will weed out the meek and mild, BH and like sites will take those with disorders which inhibit comprehension and resultant growth to varying degrees; thinning the herd until the the potential 1 in 1000 may shine.

The recent preschooler 'slugfest' illustrates this point. Mindless attack met with mindless defense. Marginally clever at best; the barrage of introspective turned invective was almost painful to witness, an engagement consisting of mutual self-inflicted woundings.

Let the rugrats romp; give them none save the requisite attention due...it will all work out for the best in the end.

I had seen links/depictions of the categories for a few years - cool to find the lab where these types are established.

I'll probably just lurk around and take notes - just wanted to say good job.

I saw the characterisations a long time ago, almost six months or more, I think, but the forum I noticed much later and all the nice goodies in it, including "battle plans" Razz

What can I say, it's what a flame warrior would always want (nice departuring them from trolls, btw)
To sum it up for me, this site is an informational tool about the existence of there different personalities living together on the internet and on forums for the more or less acute pleasure of arguing and imposing their view, and here for me is the best way to see inside their personalities through outside eyes.

Well, I think I said enough, I wasn't planning on making a new-commer topic in the beginning either, so this would be a substitute for it, I'll just be lurking around until I see something interesting I wanna express myself at or just tire from the usuall business for a while.

People don't really know each other.
I am another random stranger who likes to bicker in here and there, mock threads and people, but I am not really hating anyone.
Maybe getting overly upset about people here gave you the bad reputation?
Just a thought because I didn't analyze it in depth.

Let's just say if someone pulls your leg constantly and doesn't let lose it's time to ignore the person.
Because one can't change the behavior of the others with words alone if they don't want their behavior to be changed.
