I've been trying to make a few icons and wallpapers from an anime, using Photoshop 7. Problem is, I've no idea how to make a screencap and when I press the Print Scrn button, it goes all wierd. The clip keeps playing with the file, and I can't seem to edit it. Do you use some kind of special program? A Codex of some sort?

Usually a PrntScrn, or Alt+PrntScrn (I think that is the combo that grabs just the current active window, might be shift instead of aly) works for me.
I gather you are trying to capture some sort of video stream? That *might* not work as well, for a myriad of reasons. |

Nope, not a stream. Just one still shot.
I'll try Alt+PrintScrn. Thanks!
Edit: tried that. Still doesn't work. Do you need the file to be playing for the image to be captured? _________________ "First learn the rules of English. Then you can go about breaking it."

| Pause the video, minimize it, then restore it, then try to do PRINT-SCREEN. |

Some video programs use DirectX, negating the ability to capture anything but the bottom layer of the image. Check the software you're watching the video in for a built-in screen capture menu option. _________________

I just had a very geeky idea.
If you have two computers with ViVo, hook them up together, and use the first compy to capture the display of the second compy, which is playing the video. Pause at the desired moment, then press PRINT-SCREEN or whichever key that's for the built-in video capturing software.
If you DO actually try that kind of setup, I want photos. |

Actually in windows media player you can hit "CTRL-I" and it will take a screenshot for you. _________________

No, it won't.
You have to get a different movie player. WiMP sucks. The best kind will give you consecuitive screencaps for GIFs. _________________ KILL IT WITH FIRE! |

Yes it will, I just did it five seconds ago to make sure. At least I know WMP 9.0 does it. I don't know about the earlier versions.

I just used Windows Movie Maker to grab some caps, but thanks for the advice! I've got WMP 10, so I'll use the Ctrl+I which is much easier.
Yay. *fires up Photoshop* _________________ "First learn the rules of English. Then you can go about breaking it."

What precisely are you attempting to capture? You may be able to actually find a still somewhere. _________________ The Average Woman Would Rather Have Beauty Than Brains Because The Average Man Can See Better Than He Can Think |
