Most of my good shit here was deleted by a madman. It's a sad tale. _________________ -

FX speaks the truth, though madman would be too kind a term. I refer to "it" as the unmentionable one. FFer would serve as nearly a good a label - with the first F being for forum. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

well he's irrelevant now. _________________ "Nurturing resentment is like taking poison and expecting someone else to die!"

yick, I don't like to ...
Ok "it" was associated with irritus who made "it" a MOD. In the last year where the forum had daily regulars, yes, there was a lot of mindless prattle, but there was also some juicy but somewhat lame scuffles, which bore out the nature of the few who visited, and it was interesting. "It" hardly contributed, though a few like to challenge "it." "It" decided to pull the pin, and in doing so, deleted most of the last years exchange, however it only delete 6 (? if not siz, close to that) thereabouts of it's own posts. "It" had asked to be let go, so yeah irritus did.
So the forum needed to be reloaded, even if we lost a few days of posts, they could be posted manually in a single thread for histories sake. I eventually got emailing and seeing what could be done. I was hoping that the technicians would automatically do it, but after a bit they said they'd left the backup where someone with normal database privileges could grab it and reload it. Nothing happened, interest slowly waned and so the forum was ultimately "yahooed."
Yahooed. -- Yahoo had groups back in the 90s, and had a period where they merely just deleted a group or removed all messages from their archive. Many people who used to participate in Yahoo groups CEASED to do so immediately after that point. CAN'T imagine why that was. Some group admins also used the period to "clean up" blaming yahoo staff as well.
Supposedly yahoo groups are still going strong, but in the last few years of research, (music, agronomy, computers, science & technology) I've yet to see any info (ie, any links) come up from within a yahoo group. Supposedly still going strong. _________________ The important thing is knowing who owns the fence |

I'll get around to writing a script to locate and restore them eventually.
