It is a truism that no matter how worthy the cause, you can find an idiot to support it. Conversely, no matter how stupid an idea may be, some credentialed authority can be found to back it up; and these are the people Honest Abe Linkin' cites to "prove" his assertions about fluoridation being a Taoist confidence trick, or the high-school romance between Lee Harvey Oswald and Marilyn Monroe. It's the ad hominem argument turned inside out: no matter how ridiculous his latest absurdity is, Abe can find a link to someone respectable who agrees with it-- usually at Harvard.

For the people who routinely explode his specious reasoning, he simulates vast contempt: if they had proof, they'd post a link to it! This is invariably followed by a panicky storm of links to the sites where he acquired the silly notion in the first place.

Wouldn't a better name be Conspiracy Theorist? And don't we already have him? (I looked but couldn't find it).

No conspiracy theorist that I'm aware of, as a matter of fact I'm working on one thusly.

Abe can suddenly manifest from some other Warrior--usually Pinko or Blowhard-- but doesn't normally start out as a conspiracy theorist.

He can turn himself into one, though, if it's the only way to keep from admitting a mistake. His whole schtick is that he Always Tells The Truth, so all it takes is for people to go on pointing out errors of fact. Presently the only way to continue denying the facts is to invoke some kind of plot.

He is not quite the same person as Ferrous Cranus. He actually does pay attention to what was said to him-- for the purpose of distorting it in rebuttal. Later it will be quoted as evidence of a coverup.

His only real ally is Klaxon.

We had someone during the summer at one of the forum's I go to who was convinced that a meteor was going to hit the Earth and destroy it in September.

We all showed her articles that said the meteor would simply pass over us, but she showed articles from The Sun (which is usually not much at honestly) and said we would all be gone pretty soon.

If she never, ever refers to it now, but still posts, she may be Abe.

Although I can visualize an extreme version who would claim that it had, in fact, happened, but had been covered up.

I believe this is a combination of Klaxon and Knows-Someone.

I hate these link-warriors with a passion, the stubborn ones are the worst. If you can't find a link that parrots exactly what you post, then you're lying or don't know a thing

Even common sense escapes them, half the time I expect they will demand I post a link that proves I did indeed wake up this morning

Eh, no, you're thinking of Linker.

My apologies to all. For some reason I failed to make this clear: Honest Abe Linkin' only manifests when he's caught in a glaring error of fact; then he begins posting links to the Church of St. Loony Up The Cream Bun And Jam. Up to that point he appears to be some other kind of Warrior.

Incidentally, I have a suggestion for a new title for an established Warrior:

Linker might better be called Duke of URL. Just a thought.
