Supernatural warriors known as Ad Harpies can be found circling ad-supported sites. Most common to online journals, Ad Harpies serve to remind everyone to help keep the site afloat by clicking X number of ads per day. Over and over again. Every day reminders, in some cases. Ad Harpies often have administrative support, and sometimes administrative membership. Much like roaches, even if you only see one, there are probably more to come.
Ad Harpies are typically neutral warriors until attacked for their endless shrill prattling. This is a dangerous move; they are tenacious and fight back with righteous indignation. Admin and mods who fail to rein in more aggressive breeds of Ad Harpies may find their members fleeing in droves.
Administrative Ad Harpies are inversely proportional to how personal conent-oriented a site is. Conversely, mortal Ad Harpies are more common the more personal conent-oriented a site is. _________________

Ahh, yes. These usually are blog-exclusive warriors who are obsessed with "community sprit" and "keeping the site running". I hate these idiots. _________________

They used to infest OpenDiary. I haven't looked to see if they're still around since I left there years ago. _________________

I left OD at least five years ago. They implemented a pay only thing so that the Ad Harpies finally shut the hell up. I remember the open letter I wrote to the sites administrators totally trashing them that got circulated around. It was my first Rebel Leader act that I can recall. _________________
