I must admit, I'd much prefer it if for FanFic sites if every story had to be read by the admin or mods before adding (I dunno, a law or something).
That'd soon make them ban people who submit crap. |

I agree wholeheartedly. I hate hate HATE it when my favorite characters are suddenly bastardized so some fan can insert him/herself as a god(dess) supergenius, or turns two characters that want to kill each other into unrequited lovers.

And these same girls get all defensive when you complain that the characters are being bastardized. How often do you see yuri fanfiction where the characters weren't lesbians to begin with? I can think of only one place where I've found them, and that site was made JUST for lesbian fanfiction.
(Yeah, I'm a perv. So what? At least I don't make, read, or give high marks to crappy fanfiction where two mortal enemies stare longingly at each other for no good reason.)

Hmm, yet I wasn't referring to any flames but rather some obvious angsty tantrums by some sniveling kids about fan fiction. Of course I wouldn't expect anyone dumb enough to be a xenophobe to figure that out, so meh.

Just wanted to say that as a past member of various fanfic sites, I am strongly in favor of having to submit every story for review by a competent, objective, mature-minded judge or judges before it's displayed. Not a huge deal or anything, it's just tiresome having to wade through so much junk in order to find anything worthwhile. Ratings systems also help, although there's potential for abuse there.

Hell, I wish they'd do ithat to some of the crap that gets published, too. Most of the Star Trek novels I've read wouldn't appeal to a ten-year-old.
